gynecologists-in-ottawa
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise & Qualifications - We only included gynecologists who are fully licensed and have impressive credentials, plus years of hands-on experience in women’s health.

Facilities - We made sure the clinics are modern, easy to access, and equipped with up-to-date medical technology for top-notch care.

Services Offered - We looked for doctors who offer a wide range of services—everything from routine check-ups and pregnancy care to handling more complex issues.

Patient Care - We prioritized gynecologists known for their compassionate approach, good communication skills, and the ability to make patients feel comfortable from the moment they walk in.

Sometimes, just booking an appointment with a gynecologist can feel like a big deal! But trust me, those yearly check-ups aren’t just for when something feels off—they’re the best way to keep your body healthy and happy!

Plus, having the right doctor makes all the difference, whether you’re looking for advice, answers, or just a little reassurance.

So if you’re ready to take charge of your reproductive health (or simply want someone who gets it), you’re in luck. Here are the best gynecologists in Ottawa who totally have your back!

How much does it cost to see a gynecologist in Ottawa?

In Ottawa, if you have a valid OHIP card, seeing a gynecologist is generally free, as visits are covered by provincial health insurance. However, if you are an uninsured patient, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $386 or more for a basic consultation, depending on the clinic and services provided.

1. Dr. Hisham Khalil’s Clinic

Address: 152 Cleopatra Dr., Nepean

Phone: +1 613 729 7352

Business Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday – 8 AM to 4 PM

Aside from being an OB-GYN, Dr. Hisham Khalil is also a urogynecologist and pelvic reconstructive surgery specialist, which is a definite bonus. Dr. Khalil manages high-risk and complex pregnancies, but it’s more than just credentials.

He actually got a reputation for genuinely listening, making patients feel seen and not just another appointment on a packed list.

The clinic setup makes visits pretty fuss-free. It’s bright and clean, with info and post-op instructions that aren’t just medical jargon.

There’s even a careful walkthrough of everything from what to expect before surgery to how to handle recovery at home. And for those wondering where deliveries happen, Dr. Khalil is linked up with the Civic Campus at Ottawa Hospital, so it’s all under one trusted umbrella.

We kept hearing from patients that he doesn’t rush anyone, so the big downside is the wait since the clinic can get crowded.

Pros

  • Specialized expertise
  • High-risk pregnancy care
  • Modern facilities
  • Bilingual resources
  • Convenient hospital access

Cons

  • Long wait times; high demand

Compassionate care

“I have been under the care of Dr. Hisham, my OB-GYN, for my three pregnancies in 2017, 2018, and 2025. He is one of the most professional and kind doctors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you, Dr. Hisham, for all your efforts and care 😊 …”

Attentive postnatal support

“The best doctor I have ever worked with. I had complications post birth and Dr Khalil continued to check in and monitor me for an additional 6 months to be sure no issues persisted. Kind, compassionate and overall great person.”

2. Dr. Millar David

Dr. David Millar is basically a hometown legend! He’s got deep Ottawa roots and has done everything from ranch work to wrangling high-level roles, like executive director at the Monarch Centre.

His vibe is all about comprehensive, low-risk obstetrics and genuinely supporting new parents from bump to baby and beyond. We’ve run into a lot of families who swear by his team, and it’s easy to see why.

Here, patients get all the classic maternal and newborn care. This includes prenatal checks, delivery at the Civic Campus, and postpartum follow-ups.

Best of all, everything’s bundled so it really feels like a full-circle experience, not piecemeal appointments.

A standout feature for a lot of us is how flexible they try to be with appointments. If mornings are a no-go, there’s even talk of catching an evening slot, which is pretty rare here.

If we’re being real, the only spot that loses points is the front desk—we’ve heard from previous patients that they have a bit of an attitude on the phone more often than you’d like.

Pros

  • Extensive experience
  • Full-spectrum care
  • Postpartum expertise
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Supportive resources

Cons

  • Front desk attitude

Caring doctors

“Excellent Family Practice. The care received is far superior to any other I have experienced before. We became patients in 2017 and have nothing bad to say about any of the dr. Or front office staff. You can always pick at small things, but bottom line, these doctors are attentive and have excellent bedside manners. It has gotten busier last few years, but that is to be expected. You’ll have a hard time finding a better practice.”

Exceptionally reliable team

“The most reliable staff possible. Dr Mir has been there for my medical needs since a car accident 6 yrs ago. Feeling safe is rare today. I love them for the last 20 years. The person complaining about 3 yrs ago has no respect for the fact Covid started and the jobs doubled. The front line did everything possible to help everyone. We all went through it together and one hour is better then 12 hours in emerg. Think before you badmouth people who care.”

Business Hours:

  • Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 4 PM

Dr. Susan Thorne’s credentials alone are pretty solid. She’s the department chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Queensway Carleton Hospital and also heads their maternal newborn program, so she’s got influence and experience all over the place.

Having trained at Queen’s University and later doing advanced pelvic surgery at the University of Toronto, she offers a high level of expertise in both physical and more complex cases.

She especially stands out for her minimally invasive surgery and treatment of genital prolapse! Furthermore, the hospital’s facilities are modern and well-equipped, so no one will be dealing with outdated tech or waiting around for things to get done.

Dr. Thorne is also known for being direct and efficient. In fact, her patients appreciate that she gets straight to the point without wasting time.

Just note that showing up prepared with questions is a must, since she isn’t likely to walk patients through every detail unless they ask.

It’s also worth noting that it might be difficult to get a slot sometimes because she’s in such high demand.

Pros

  • Highly experienced
  • Advanced surgical skills
  • Modern facilities
  • Efficient care
  • Transparent communication

Cons

  • High demand
  • Direct communication style; limited chat time

Welcoming care

“Dr. Thorne and Andrea are absolute amazing women. I have had two beautiful children under their care. They always make me feel welcomed and care about my well-being.”

Natacha Khoerniawan, Google Review

Compassionate approach

“Dr. Thorne is an amazing and caring gynecologist. I accompanied my mother who is being treated by her, and my mom was immediately put at east with her easy-going nature. Well-informed, Dr. Thorne took the time to explain and answer every question during my mother’s consultation.”

We love it when clinics go way beyond the basics, and that’s basically the vibe here at Liberty Women’s Health.

Dr. Johneen Manning herself is clearly all-in when it comes to women’s health empowerment. She covers everything: Menstrual problems, birth control chats, IUD insertions, pap tests, STI screens, menopause, perimenopause support, and more.

Another thing we appreciated is that her clinic isn’t limited to gynecology. In fact, there’s also primary care dermatology here, making it extra convenient for anyone dealing with both skin and reproductive health concerns.

OHIP covers appointments as well, so clients don’t have to stress about stacking up bills. Dr. Manning’s bedside manner has been raved about as well more than once!

She’s said to really listen, break things down (no medical jargon marathons), and make everyone feel heard. But if we’re to nitpick, we did hear that the front desk can be a bit curt, and a few people mentioned missed appointment confirmations.

Pros

  • Empowering approach
  • Wide service range
  • OHIP covered
  • Dermatology included
  • Attentive physician

Cons

  • Front desk staff needs improvement
  • Appointment confirmation issues

Exceptionally supportive

“Wanted to leave a comment about how absolutely outstanding Dr Manning is! She is patient and very informed. For anyone who is nervous or anxious, she hits all the marks to make you feel better.

Reading through the comments, I have to agree that the clinic is a bit out of sorts (impossible to get them to answer the phone or voicemails, no paper towel or toilet paper in the washroom), but Dr Manning makes up for it.”

Sam Temme, Google Review

Compassionate service

“In these times when it is sometimes difficult to get the care that you need in a timely manner, Dr. Manning and her team are absolute godsends. I was able to easily book a test online for the next week (wild!). Dr. Manning was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, caring and she and her team were very responsive to my follow up questions. I am so grateful for the existence of clinics like Liberty Women’s Health and doctors like Dr. Manning, who quickly got me on the way to diagnosis and treatment. Rare gems.”

From the start, it’s clear that Dr. Straszak-Suri isn’t about one-size-fits-all care. Her whole vibe is about really tailoring treatments, whether with lifestyle tweaks or by bringing in cutting-edge stuff like laser therapies and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments.

She’s deep into age management medicine, which is honestly pretty cool for anyone looking for the latest options in gynecology and wellness. We also noticed that she partners up with her husband, Dr. Permjit Suri.

This means there are even more layers of medical expertise under one roof. We’ve also learned that they’re both always staying sharp by regularly attending conferences and rolling out innovations.

Furthermore, the clinic itself is modern and clean, and patients mention that they genuinely feel cared for. However, we did hear that Dr. Straszak-Suri can feel a bit rushed during appointments, probably due to having a lot of patients.

Still, the care level and the broad, innovative treatment choices seem like huge draws!

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Advanced treatments
  • Modern facilities
  • Expert team

Cons

  • Sometimes rushed

Positive patient care

“Dr.Suri is very helpful and makes me  feel great every time I visit her.

I like her happy and positive attitude and the way she answers all my questions very patiently.

I am blessed to have her as my doctor”

Sara Abdullah, Google Review

Trusted expertise

“I have been a patient of Dr. Straszak-Suri for many, many years.  She delivered two of my babies.  She is so knowledge and up on the newest, most helpful medications.  I trust her judgement completely.”
