Not one of them wanted to even do the job as soon as they heard it was a car engine block I needed word on. The next day, I went to at least 4 other shops in the Ottawa region and called a couple on the side. No luck again. 

As I was going back to tell my mechanic that I didn’t get any luck, I remembered one shop that I hadn’t called or gone to yet, since it was on my way back to the garage. I walked into the place, spoke with the owner about the job I wanted, and he told me there was no problem doing it. 

I was surprised and happy at the same time, so I forgot to ask how much he would charge. A couple of days later, the job was done. I really thought it was a 200-300$ job. When I got there to pick up my engine block, he asked for a 100$.

“I needed a bracket for my boat trailer welded and contacted Ritchie’s. After explaining to Dot, a wonderful lady, that I needed it done ASAP, but that it was galvanized, she put me in touch with Adam. 

Apparently, welding galvanized steel is very difficult, but he told me that they could probably replicate the bracket for me instead a lot faster and a lot cheaper. I dropped off the old bracket, and Dot called me the very next day to tell me it was ready. 

When I went to pick it up, I was a bit concerned about the angle, so Russell, who made the bracket, tweaked it a little to my liking, and it worked out perfectly. A huge shout-out to all who were involved.
