Just like being in a great radio station, I’ve always loved the idea of sitting behind a mic and hearing that little red light flick on. So finding the best recording studio in Ottawa feels a bit like scouting my dream workplace.
A great studio can make vocals, podcasts, and instruments sound polished without hours of rescue work later. The wrong room, meanwhile, can turn one session into a very long night.
Ottawa has everything from roomy band setups to snug booths made for crisp voice work. I’ve picked out a few local studios that make it easier to sound as good as you imagined.
How much does it cost to rent a recording studio in Ottawa?
Recording studios in Ottawa typically cost $50 to $150 per hour. Rates depend on the studio, equipment, and whether an audio engineer is included.
Dedicated podcast rooms usually cost around $50 per hour. Standard mid-tier studios tend to charge $65 to $85 per hour.
Premium commercial studios can run about $110 to $135+ per hour. Community resource centres may offer much cheaper access, sometimes around $8 per hour.
1. Audio Valley Recording Studio

Address: 1570 Liverpool Court, Unit 1
Contact: 613-963-0162 | [email protected]
Hours: Sessions available 24/7
Audio Valley feels like the kind of place where serious gear meets a relaxed Ottawa studio vibe. Since opening in 2003, the team has worked with everyone from independent artists to names like J. Cole.
I like that they balance analogue equipment with modern digital tools instead of leaning too hard either way. Their multi-room setup also gives you options for full-band tracking, vocals, podcasts, or smaller sessions.
There’s solid flexibility here too, especially since you can book without an in-house engineer if you already have your own producer. For anyone who likes a bit more control over the session, that’s a handy perk.
The main catch is the 50% deposit required to secure a booking. That’s worth factoring into your budget before locking in studio time.
Professional Gear and Excellent Sound Isolation
One of the best recording studios in Ottawa. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. I have shot a couple of videos here for clients, and we’re always impressed by the space. They have all of the gear you could ever need for recording. One thing that is special about this place is that there is zero audio spillover from room to room. You don’t get that at many studios. Highly recommend!

Efficient Live Band Recording Experience
Excellent and productive couple of days recording at Audio Valley. The band liked how we could record simultaneously off the floor, with full independence, and how we had plenty of mics and equipment to draw from. Steve is very quick and efficient working behind the board. We’ll be back. HemlockHotel

2. Viva Recording Studios

Address: 2186 Thurston Drive, Unit A
Contact: +1 613-302-0211
Hours: Available 24/7
Viva Recording Studios is a handy pick if your project needs more than just a good microphone and a quiet room. They handle music, podcasts, and video production, so you can keep more of the creative process under one roof.
The gear setup is serious too, with Universal Audio Apollo interfaces, analogue preamps, and professional studio mics. I also like that the rooms are acoustically treated and available around the clock for late-night inspiration.
You can rent the space without an in-house engineer, which gives experienced creators a bit more freedom. That makes Viva especially flexible for producers who already know their way around a session.
The catch is the two-hour minimum and fairly firm cancellation policy. Cancelling within 48 hours costs your deposit, while arriving over 15 minutes late could mean losing the session.
Professional, Supportive Recording Experience
I’ve had the opportunity to bring my artists to Viva Studio, and every experience has been excellent. The professionalism, sound quality, and attention to detail are outstanding. The team creates a comfortable environment that allows artists to perform at their best and bring their creative vision to life. Communication is always smooth, and they genuinely care about delivering a great final product. I highly recommend Viva Studio to any artist looking for a professional and welcoming recording experience.

3. Raven Street Studios

Address: 1540 Raven Ave
Contact: [email protected] | (613) 798-0070
Hours: By appointment
Raven Street Studios has the kind of old-school Ottawa cred that makes you want to linger after the session. The 3,500-square-foot complex has three studios and a client list that includes Snoop Dogg and Avril Lavigne.
I’m especially into Studio B’s 1-inch, 16-track tape machine for anyone chasing a more analogue sound. The huge 45-by-35-foot live room and 9-foot Baldwin grand also make it a strong fit for full bands.
Live off-the-floor sessions should feel right at home here, with enough room to keep everyone from playing elbow hockey. It’s a solid choice if you want space, character, and proper studio history.
The downside is that the discounted student rate is only for TARA (The Audio Recording Academy) graduates. Package overruns also cost extra, so longer sessions can add up quickly.
Impressive Gear Selection and Live Room
Fantastic assortment of gear. They also have what is probably one of the nicest live rooms in the city. And how do you NOT give 5 stars to the Ottawa studio that once hosted Snoop? 👌🏼 …

4. OnPod Studios Ottawa

Address: 424, Catherine St
Contact: [email protected] | [email protected]
Hours: Daily, 6 AM – 11 PM
OnPod Studios Ottawa feels built for creators who know a good podcast now needs to look as sharp as it sounds. The self-operated setup handles three camera angles, lighting, and recording without needing a full crew in the room.
I like how streamlined everything feels, especially if fiddling with cables isn’t your idea of fun. You also get Shure SM7B-series microphones and raw footage delivered within 24 hours.
Their editing options are handy too, with podcast edits, reels, trailers, and social-media support available on select plans. It’s a practical pick for creators who want to record once and repurpose the session everywhere.
The catch is space. The Ottawa room seats up to four people, uses two microphones, and doesn’t have a dedicated live-audience area.
Professional and Welcoming Podcast Studio
My in-studio experience was excellent. Kristen was warm, welcoming, professional and prepared. The conversation was easy during the recording. The studio is sophisticated & polished. You can tell immediately upon entering that Jeremy and his team are pros. Yes, I would recommend. Yes, I would go back. Thank you to both Jeremy & Kristen!

5. Burrow Media Recording Studios

Address: 2527 Baseline Rd Unit 203
Contact: 613-212-1575 | [email protected]
Hours: By appointment
Burrow Media is a handy pick if you want to work on more than the song itself. They combine recording, production, photography, branding, web design, and press-kit support under one roof.
I like that the setup feels built around the bigger picture of being an artist, not just pressing record. Studio A handles recording, mixing, and mastering, while Studio B is better suited to vocals and post-production.
That split gives solo artists and smaller projects a fair bit of flexibility. The added creative services are also useful if your release needs visuals and branding to match the sound.
The main catch is that Studio B isn’t really designed for full-band tracking. Bigger sessions will likely need Studio A instead. All sessions are strictly by appointment, too.
Professional and Detail-Oriented Recording Support
Braden at Burrow Media is an absolute gem! My recording experience with him was nothing short of fantastic. His professionalism, attention to detail, and expertise truly elevated the entire process. Not only did he create a comfortable and creative environment, but he also brought out the best in my performance. I highly recommend Burrow Media for anyone looking for top-notch recording services in Ottawa. Thanks, Braden, for an unforgettable experience!
