5 Best Acupuncture Clinics in Ottawa That Can Make Pain Go Away!

acupuncture-services-ottawa
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Experience and Credentials: We chose clinics with acupuncturists who have proper credentials, training, and educational background in health and wellness. They need to have in-depth knowledge of the body for effective treatment.
  • Specialisation: Not all providers will offer the same things, which is why we included acupuncture clinics offering different treatments to cater to your specific needs.
  • Clinic’s Cleanliness: Acupuncturists must have strict safety protocols, ensuring the treatment room is clean and the needles sterilised and disposed of properly.
  • Professionalism: The acupuncturist must listen to your needs. So we checked how well they communicate with their clients, which we based on our experience.
  • Rates: We understand that clinics will usually have differing prices, so we picked those that are upfront about the costs. If they have competitive rates, they gain extra points!

I admit I wasn’t a believer in acupuncture at first, mainly because I was afraid of needles. It took me a long while until I went to a clinic because my wrist pain wouldn’t go away.

You see, my job as a writer requires wrists that can actually move without me wincing in pain all the time! I was out of options, so finally, I booked the appointment.

And et voilà, there was progress after a couple of treatments! So instead of gatekeeping, we’re finally sharing our top acupuncturists because they can do the same for you!

How much does acupuncture cost in Ottawa?

Acupuncture in Ottawa costs an average of $80 to $135 per session, while follow-ups are usually lower. However, you should know that the rates depend on the type of treatment and the length of the session.

It’s not surprising that Twelvem Acupuncture in Ottawa has earned the trust of many clients, including most of our staff. Honestly, they live up to their name.

We were impressed with their approach to integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern techniques to deliver the most effective treatments. You truly get the best of both worlds.

What sets them apart even further is the advanced training one of their acupuncturists received in China, studying and interning at hospitals in Beijing and Tianjin. This expertise adds another layer of credibility and reassures potential clients of the quality of care they can expect.

Not to mention, your acupuncture session may include complementary treatments like cupping and massage. It’s no wonder the clients we spoke with have reported significant pain relief.

Securing an appointment was also hassle-free. With three acupuncturists on staff, you can book as far as a month in advance—though the clinic is closed on Sundays.

Their rates are very accessible, and they offer direct billing to insurance. A 45-minute session costs only $75, while the initial assessment is $135.

The cherry on top is their clean facility and excellent customer service. The clinic felt safe and welcoming, especially for first-timers!

Pros

  • Combines modern and traditional techniques
  • Easy booking system
  • Reasonable prices
  • Direct billing to insurance
  • Several acupuncturists available

Cons

  • No Sunday bookings

Ottawa Community Acupuncture impressed us with their affordable prices. They’re focused on affordability, which is fantastic for clients on strict budgets.

There’s a rate based on household income, from $25 to $45 per 30-minute session. You should know that the treatment is done in a reclining chair, which isn’t an issue for us because it’s good for limited mobility.

And no, you don’t have to pay more if you stay for 45 minutes (which you can, by the way). However, they don’t offer direct billing to insurance, so you have to submit the receipt yourself.

From what we’ve seen, the cheap prices have never affected the treatments. The acupuncturist has a caring vibe and has calmed clients afraid of needles.

The only issue? It’s tough to find a schedule. Having one practitioner means there aren’t a lot of available dates, but the low cost is worth waiting for.

Pros

  • Really affordable rates
  • Prices are based on household income
  • Ideal for persons with limited movement
  • No added rates for longer sessions

Cons

  • No direct billing to insurance
  • Limited availability

Uniquely kind & caring

“Rachel is one of those rare people who can make you feel at ease & seen just with her presence. She is uniquely kind & caring and has a wealth of knowledge to help you with whatever you may be seeking treatment for. 100% recommend.

Space is safe, inviting and so incredibly calm

“I have been a receiving acupuncture from Rachel for the past 2 years, most recently my last few weeks of pregnancy. Her space is safe, inviting and so incredibly calm.  She always takes the time to really check in to see how I am doing, which helps immensely with my trust and comfort with her.  I have happily and confidently referred friends and family to Rachel for fertility, pain and overall wellness.”

We love inclusive spaces, which Triada Health Ottawa provides! They’re an LGBTQ+ safe clinic, which we admire because the queer community has a welcoming space for wellness.

That’s why it wasn’t surprising when most clients noted the comfortable environment during their acupuncture sessions. These guys also win in customer service because of their calm and professional approach.

We also like that they offer more than acupuncture, which is handy if you need other health and wellness remedies. The tailored services also help because your session may include other treatments.

But we were surprised at the limited availability, even with three acupuncturists. There aren’t a lot of time slots because their practitioners only have a couple of days available.

Also, this Ottawa acupuncture clinic is located in Nepean, which is pretty far from downtown. On the plus side, our staff liked the clean and relaxing facility.

Pros

  • LGBTQ+ safe space
  • Offers other health and wellness services
  • Tailored services
  • Known for its comfortable atmosphere

Cons

  • Practitioners have limited availability
  • Clinic is in Nepean

Created a comfortable environment

“I can only express positive thoughts about Carly Smith. As a plus-size woman who occasionally finds touch challenging, she created a comfortable environment for me. Even a few days after my massage, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in the pain in my back, which is truly remarkable. I am genuinely grateful and highly recommend Carly!”

“I have had shoulder pain for over 9 years, have seen many different people and Sarah is the first person who took the time to assess my pain, mobility, and be able to help. 100% would recommend!”

There’s an acupuncturist in Ottawa who has been practising for decades—Minda Natural Health & Acupuncture Clinic has been doing acupuncture for over 35 years and has worked overseas.

Aside from their expertise, we also like that they combine Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western Medicine to find the best treatment for various cases. And it’s cool to know it’s working because clients have noted progress.

This is a bilingual clinic offering acupuncture services in English and Mandarin. Pretty awesome, really, since not many do.

When it comes to prices, their clinic is very accessible! A session is only $78, which is impressive for someone who has been practising for decades.

It would be nice to add a more efficient booking system or Sunday time slots, just to make things easier. But other than that, we have no problems because they’re really good at communicating with clients.

Pros

  • Over 35+ years of experience
  • Speaks English and Mandarin
  • Affordable services
  • Combines TCM with Western Medicine

Cons

  • No quick booking system
  • No Sunday appointments

Happy with the friendly service

“I used Minda acupuncture a few months ago and I found that it worked. I was happy with the the friendly service and I would recommend them to all my family and friends. Thank you for your good work”

Very good results relating to pain

“Have been seeing Mr Shen for about 4 months, 2x/week. I went there to manage the side effects and now, to recover from the cancer treatment. Very good professional service, on time. I expect it will take a while for my body to fully recover, so not expecting fast results. But I do see very good results relating to pain, colds, hormonal issues. My daughter also starts seeing Mr Shen to regulate her hormonal issue as a young female with ADHD symptoms.”

When it comes to experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xu Acupuncture Ottawa didn’t disappoint. Their acupuncturist has been practising for over three decades and was a former MD in China.

Their credentials show up in the results! Most clients we talked with mentioned that the acupuncture sessions helped them recover from pain, which is the main thing we really want here.

What’s unique that others don’t offer is the free consultation. You basically don’t have to pay for an initial meeting, which is an excellent way to speak with your acupuncturist without spending a loonie.

The clinic is accessible, too. While it’s not exactly downtown, it’s really close—just a couple of minutes of walking!

Many also noted the affordable prices, which is pretty surprising for its location. Our only wish is an easy booking system to avoid back-and-forth communication, but appointments are not a problem because they’re open daily.

Pros

  • Open daily
  • Convenient location
  • Free consultations
  • Reasonable prices

Cons

  • No easy booking system
