If you’ve ever filled a glass of water in Ottawa and thought, “Is this really as clean as it should be?”—you’re definitely not alone. Honestly, I used to ignore it until the taste got weird and my kettle started looking crusty inside.
That’s when I realized it was time to look into water treatment services. I was clueless where to start, though, because there are so many options out there (and let’s be real, some sound way too good to be true).
Luckily, my team helped me search for the best providers (and checked some more!). Now, to save you from all that hassle, we’ve rounded up the best water treatment services in Ottawa—check them out below!
How much does a water treatment cost in Ottawa?
In Ottawa, you can expect to pay between $1,500 and $5,000 for a home water treatment system, depending on the type and installation complexity. For example, under-sink reverse osmosis systems can start on the lower end, while whole-home filtration or softening systems can reach the higher end of that range.
1. Culligan of Ottawa

Address: 78 Auriga Dr.
Phone: +1 613 225 9175
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 4:30 PM
Culligan has been tackling water issues for Canadians for more than eighty years, so they really are local water experts. They have everything from user-friendly softener systems to reverse osmosis units, coolers, and setups for whole-home filtration.
What makes them really easy to work with is their hands-on approach, starting with complimentary in-home assessments and quick turnaround for water testing. They say it takes half an hour, and our contacts confirmed it really is that fast.
To add, a lot of their previous clients credited Culligan with making a solid difference in day-to-day stuff, like fewer hard-water stains, softer hair, and way less scale buildup in kettles and dishwashers.
Furthermore, their financing promos and bundle discounts are pretty attractive, too! On the flip side, we did come across mixed stories about slow follow-up responses.
A few more added that warranty claims dragged on a bit.
Prompt service
“We had Raj perform the service on our water treatment system today and he did an excellent job! He was prompt and called ahead to let us know when he would arrive. He was very thorough and changed the UV bulb and filters and checked for leaks every step of the way. He also sanitized our RO system. He was very professional, polite and pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend Raj and would gladly have him perform the maintenance of our Culligan water system.”

Knowledgeable technician
“We had a great experience with Jamie Kurtz during his visit to our home. We wanted to understand our house water conditions and see if there was a way to improve the performance of our water softener. Jamie was very knowledgeable and provided all the information we needed. His guidance helped us make an informed decision about the best route to take for our water softener system. Thank you Jamie.”

2. The Water Purifiner Inc.

Address: 56 Rita Ave., Nepean
Phone: +1 613 225 5345
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM
The Water Purifiner Inc. is tied in with Canature Watergroup, so their Hydrotech systems make up the backbone of what they install. But what really grabbed our attention was their willingness to go off-script when the situation called for it.
They, in fact, mix in Waterite and other brands just to make sure the bases are covered. Plus, walking through their product list, it’s not just softeners and basic filters—reverse osmosis setups, iron removers, UV purifiers, and even specialty filters.
Moreover, the tech in their crew seems to have seen it all, and we kept hearing from their customers how straightforward and stress-free their installs are. The only real complaint coming up in conversations was the wait time.
Turns out they’re in such high demand, so there may be a bit of calendar juggling before a system lands in the basement. Still, most agree the payoff—calmer laundry days, clearer ice cubes, and just a general no-fuss vibe—makes a little patience go down easy.
Thorough assessment
“So happy to have found Jeff after years with another company (corporate) that we were never quite satisfied with. Jeff assessed our system and needs and sent off a sample for thorough investigation. He re-plumbed our backwash to empty out of the house vs into the sump pit. We are very satisfied with our new system. Jeff is quick and professional and quietly goes about his work. Highly recommend him!”

Helpful technicians
“Don’t live in the area, actually Northern Ontario, this was the only website that came up on the search for the filtration system i have in my home, So I called and explained the situation. The gentleman was more then helpful explaining what I needed, and how to service my system, knowing it wasn’t practical to purchase directly from him. This is the least I can do, if you live in Eastern Ontario, call here first, service was excellent, and honest, rare these days. Thanks again!”

3. Nelson Water Inc.

Address: 248 Westbrook Rd., Carp
Phone: +1 613 831 8491
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 4 PM
Nelson Water Inc. brings the heavy artillery when it comes to tackling Ottawa’s water woes, especially since they’ve been around since ‘85. Their lineup deals with everything from classic hard water headaches to the really niche stuff—think arsenic, lead, and such.
They cater to both homes and businesses, and the options here range from reverse osmosis setups and chemical injection to full-on UV systems and air purifiers. This is great for anyone who likes the idea of having everything sorted out under one roof.
What also stands out is how they roll out free in-home water analysis, no strings attached, and there are financing deals and upgrade offers. People we talked to mentioned smooth installations and no-nonsense maintenance.
There were some mixed notes on customer service, though—some found the staff less than enthusiastic when handling complaints, especially with follow-up questions. Still, with the depth of solutions and the clear local experience, most agree that Nelson Water is a reliable provider.
Professional yet friendly technician
“We only moved into our new home a couple of months ago and based on the previous owners notes they had been using Nelson Water and having them service both the water filter and pump for years. So, today I had a service technician come out for the annual preventative maintenance, and Frank could not have been more professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He was more than happy to answer any of my questions since we’ve never had a well or a water softener in the past. Now, I have no problems recommending Frank and his company to all of my friends and family!”

Honest technician
“Josh came to repair our water softener and he was fantastic. He told us what needed to be replaced and showed us the broken part when he took it out. He was very professional, friendly and polite and he cleaned up the area where he worked.
This was the first time we dealt with Nelson Water as the softener was in the house when we purchased it. We highly recommend this company; our first experience will keep us coming back for sure.
Well done Josh and thank you!”

4. Ottawa Water Filters CO

Address: Serving the Ottawa area
Phone: +1 613 424 6972
Business Hours:
- Monday to Saturday – 9 AM to 9 PM
Ottawa Water Filters has that hometown vibe, since it’s been in the game for over 18 years. Their A+ BBB rating comes up a lot in reviews, and a lot of people stick with them because the team makes the whole process less of a sales pitch.
Now, they cover pretty much every Ottawa water headache people throw at them: hard water, iron, sulfur issues, tannins, and well water mystery problems. They have filters for all sorts, plus replacement parts when repairs are all that’s needed.
We also love that they run lots of promo pricing and trade-in deals that really do make things less painful for the waller, especially compared to the big-box guys.
The even offer support, whether you want installation or prefer to DIY, with Shawn (the owner) even walking people through setups over the phone.
However, a couple of people did mention installation slip-ups—a filter put in backwards or something not tightened. But customers mentioned they respond fast and make things right.
Great work
“I have nothing but great things to say about Ottawa Water Filter Co! 13 years ago I went against purchasing a water treatment system proposed by the builder of our new home. I came across Shawn and his company online and he provided me with a top quality system at a far better price than the builder, that is still standing to this day. I asked him to do a maintenance on the system, which he did promptly as well. I’m good for a while longer and decided to upgrade with a reverse osmosis. Shawn shows passion in his work and that alone speaks volumes. I absolutely recommend.”

Quick and thorough
“My dad has owned his property for 20 years and his water smelled strongly of sulphur. It took 1 call to Shawn and less than a week later the overwhelming smell was gone. Shawn was quick and thorough. I highly recommend”

5. The Water Doctor Inc.

Address: 400 Bishop Davis Dr., Woodlawn
Phone: +1 613 880 0587
Business Hours:
- Open 24 hours
We always hear about how The Water Doctor covers everything, from those classic water softeners all the way to heavy-duty arsenic, iron, and lead removal systems. Plus, they offer UV setups for the “can’t-be-too-careful” crowd.
And yeah, they’re the folks who’ll roll out for a frozen pipe meltdown at midnight without making it sound like a favor. Their whole 24/7 emergency service thing isn’t just a checkbox—it’s apparently the main reason some people stick with them for years.
On the nuts-and-bolts side, their installation shows a solid understanding of the stuff hidden behind basement walls. Their follow-up also feels more like a conversation with a neighbor than a service call.
If there’s any downside, it’s that sometimes responses to non-emergency questions lag, so patience is definitely a plus. Otherwise, from what we gathered, installations are clean and built for the long haul, and maintenance is handled without any runaround or up-selling.
Prompt and efficient service
“Ryan came the day that we phoned as we had no hot water since Saturday-(my husband is 84 and I am 81). So thankful for his prompt, efficient and courteous service. Hugs and a huge thanks to him. Would recommend him to all❤️. Judy Turner and Dave Stanley”

Excellent installation service
“We called Ryan when he was recommended to us by a local well drilling company. We needed a new well inspection and hook up. Ryan and his team did a great job and even re calibrated our water softener system to match the water from the deeper well. Would be please to recommend him at any time. Ken & Nancy, Richmond, ON”
