The 5 Best Private Event Spaces in Ottawa to Book NOW!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Location - We checked for venues that are easy to get to—nobody wants their guests getting lost in the suburbs or fighting downtown traffic all night. Bonus points if it’s near hotels or transit!

Facilities - It’s essential to know if they offer sound systems, catering options, and sufficient parking spaces. That’s why we ensured every spot had the practical details sorted, so that you won’t be scrambling on the day of the event.

Capacity - There’s nothing worse than a cramped room or an empty-feeling hall. We looked for event spaces that could comfortably fit any number of guests, whether you are hosting an intimate dinner or a big birthday bash.

Customer service - We paid attention to how responsive and helpful the staff were from the first phone call. If they’re friendly, quick to answer questions, and open to special requests, that’s a huge plus!

I’ve always loved throwing parties—like, I’m the one who’s scanning for good venues months before anyone even knows what we’re celebrating. I’m not going to lie, though—finding a private event space that actually gets your vibe can be an adventure.

I’ve endured everything from venues that felt more like dentist waiting rooms than party hot spots to places that forgot our food order (don’t ask). But after all the venue hunting and RSVP chaos, we’ve narrowed down a solid list.

So if you’re planning an event and want a space that brings your vision to life—and doesn’t leave you frantically texting at midnight—below are our favourite private event spaces in Ottawa. Trust us, your party is about to level up! Read on.

How much do private event spaces cost in Ottawa?

Private event spaces in Ottawa typically range from $85 to $259 per hour, depending on the size, amenities, and location.Smaller or basic rooms may start as low as $30 per hour, while high-end venues can go up to $1,500 per hour for premium spaces or larger gatherings.

1. Playback Ottawa

Website

Playback Ottawa has pretty much blown us away—you won’t just eat and chat here. Unlimited use of their games bar (shuffleboard, bocce, beer pong, foosball, darts, and cornhole) is included with all bookings, and that’s something we haven’t seen elsewhere!

What’s more, they’re connected to Archery Games and Room Escape Ottawa, so you can easily level up your party and boost capacity to 150+ guests if needed.

The flexibility here is next level—bring your own caterer or opt for their recommended options, and the bar setup can range from a cash bar to open bar to whatever custom cocktails fit your vibe.

We appreciate the tech amenities too: a stage, projector, PA, and even seven 4k TVs, all ready for any presentation or playlist you’ve got. Free on-site parking and easy transit access close the deal.

We’ve also heard a lot of great things about their dedicated events manager, who has been described as super hands-on and on top of every detail. If anything, Playback’s biggest flaw is just how booked they get, so if you’ve got your eye on a date, do reach out early.

Pros

  • Unlimited game access
  • Best for corporate events, weddings, birthdays, and private events Weddings
  • Add-on activities available
  • Flexible catering option
  • Customizable full bar
  • Excellent tech setup
  • Accommodates up to 100-150+ guests
  • Plenty of free parking
  • Dedicated events manager

Cons

  • High demand; early booking required
  • No outdoor space

Attentive and flexible wedding coordination

“We had our wedding both ceremony and reception at Playback. The level of service was absolutely exception from start to finish. Their coordinator Josie was informative, super responsive, flexible, kind and easy going. The same level of service was had in the day if tue wedding – absolutely zero complaints and gold stars all around!  Thank you so much.”

We’ve always liked venues that feel a bit local, and Preston Event Centre is honestly one of those reliable, neighbourhood games. Right in Little Italy, so you’re in a vibrant spot, but it’s also super easy for anyone to get to—free parking’s a clutch bonus.

We checked out both the space and their online presence, and we appreciate that you get a taste of their facilities with virtual tours. If you’re like us and want to see everything before making a decision, this makes life easier.

Their capacity doesn’t mess around, either. From smaller family parties to weddings and big conferences, they can easily handle up to 450 people and still make it feel personal.

Catering is a strong suit, too; their chefs clearly care, and they can go formal with multi-course meals, keep things casual with buffets, or even rent out their kitchen if you want to bring your own crew.

The only nitpick is that details on packages aren’t laid out on their site—you still have to message or call. Good thing, though, they respond fast!

Pros

  • Centrally located
  • Free onsite parking
  • Flexible event space
  • Diverse catering options
  • Virtual venue tours available
  • Responsive staff

Cons

  • No detailed package info online

Outstanding flexibility and support

“Last weekend, we hosted our first-ever wellness conference, CLIMAX Conference, at the Preston Event Centre. From the very beginning of our planning process, the PEC team was an absolute pleasure to work with. They responded quickly to our questions, were always available for in-person visits, and showed great flexibility in adjusting our contract as our needs evolved.

On the day of the event, their staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism and went above and beyond to help us ensure everything ran smoothly. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to partner with, and we would be thrilled to host our conference here again!”

Lago is pretty much another go-to for a venue that’s got a bit of wow factor but can still handle big groups without feeling cramped.

The location’s a winner—right on Queen Elizabeth Driveway, with Dows Lake and Juliana Park doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to views.

You can tell weddings are their bread and butter, since half the couples we’ve spoken to swear by their smooth process, and how their space is set up just makes planning a breeze.

Their Vista Room is great for a cocktail crowd (up to 210), the restaurant itself can seat 250 for dinner, and if you’ve got a summer event, the patio holds another 220.

We’ve also seen plenty of setups for birthdays, work parties, you name it, which just shows how flexible the team is. And honestly, the food gets a ton of shout-outs from guests and planners alike.

The catch, though, is that reaching them by email isn’t the best move; we recommend just picking up the phone if you want faster replies.

Pros

  • Stunning lake and park views
  • Flexible event space & large capacity
  • Excellent food and catering
  • Experienced with weddings and large events
  • Outdoor patio option

Cons

  • Slow email response

Beautiful lakeside setting and great food

“Amazing wedding venue! Staff were amazing all night 🙂 Food was delicious. It’s nice that it’s on the water so you can hangout outside if you want as well.”

Seamless planning with an attentive team

“I would highly recommend Lago for your wedding venue. My husband and I got married at Lago on a beautiful fall day this past October. Gyneya and her team were an absolute dream to work with! Their exceptional communication and careful attention to detail meant that I was able to enjoy both the planning process and our wedding day with minimal stress. The food was delicious and the evening was well-coordinated. Our ceremony was held outside overlooking Dows Lake, followed by photos in the arboretum with the fall colours as our back drop. Thank you Lago for hosting our wedding at a place that means so much to us.”

The Spot put a ton of thought into making the space as versatile as possible—there’s just over 2,300 square feet split between The Grand Room (up to 50) and The Big Games Room (30 people), so whether you’re celebrating a birthday or just having group gatherings, it works.

We love how the walls are decked out in graffiti and custom sports art, and a couple of people we chatted with couldn’t stop raving about the selfie potential—definitely a vibe!

What really gets people coming back is the lineup of amenities. These guys have crammed in arcade machines, poker tables (yup, with a dedicated package), pool, ping pong, foosball, TVs, and even a private arcade you can tack onto your booking.

The wifi’s solid, the spaces are air-conditioned, and there’s a bar area in the Grand Room for when adults need a break from the games. Parking is free, and we found the staff super responsive.

If there’s one thing to keep in mind, it’s that you’ve got to pay in full just to secure your date, which can feel a bit strict.

Pros

  • Spacious, fully furnished rooms
  • Unique custom art and decor
  • Private games room and arcade
  • Activities for all ages
  • Convenient free parking
  • Responsive and accommodating staff

Cons

  • Full payment is required to book
  • May not suit very large events

Professional atmosphere with attentive staff

“I recently held a seminar event at The Spot and had a fantastic experience. The venue is very nice, exuding a professional and clean atmosphere that immediately made me feel comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the event, ensuring everything ran smoothly. I was impressed by the attention to detail and the overall organization of the seminar.

I highly recommend The Spot for any event or seminar you may be planning. It truly exceeded my expectations and I look forward to attending future events at this exceptional venue. Thank you to the team at The Spot for a wonderful experience!”

Fun, private party space with hassle-free cleanup

“We threw a party there for my husband’s birthday and had a great time! It was like having a bar to ourselves where we could shoot pool, play fuseball, shoot some hoops (my favorite) & have our own dance party. Everyone had such a great time and thought it was a great idea! Best part, no after party clean up like we would have had to do if we hosted at our house.”

If you’re looking for a spot that’s just as flexible for a corporate gala as it is for a wedding or a massive cultural bash (like for 1000 guests!), Mosaic Convention Centre is worth a look.

It’s conveniently close to the airport, so your out-of-town guests aren’t in for a trek. Plus, there are loads of both underground and overflow parking, and it’s all free!

Their team impressed us with how hands-on and detail-oriented they are. Every time we checked in—either in person or by phone—they were already a step ahead, tweaking layouts or double-checking requests to keep everything running smoothly.

They really lean into those extras, too: think full setup and teardown of stages and decor, floral arrangements, and some pretty slick customizable lighting.

Between the AV tech and their willingness to work with outside caterers or show off their own kitchen, there’s a lot of flexibility here.

The only real downside we’ve heard from repeat clients is that when they have two events happening at once, you might catch some sound drifting from the other hall.

Pros

  • Versatile, modern facility
  • Massive guest capacity
  • Complimentary parking
  • Proactive, detail-oriented staff
  • Flexible culinary options
  • Full decor, stage, and floral service provided

Cons

  • Potential sound bleed between simultaneous events
  • Less intimate for smaller gatherings

Warm hospitality and stunning decor

“We had such a wonderful experience at this wedding venue! The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming to all the guests, making us feel truly cared for throughout the event. The decor was absolutely breathtaking. Everything was organized so well, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We are so grateful for how good and nice they were to us it really made the celebration unforgettable. Highly recommend this venue for anyone planning a wedding!”

Outstanding decor and accommodating staff

“We recently hosted a cultural banquet at this venue and had a wonderful experience.

The venue looked absolutely amazing, and our guests loved it so much. The service was fantastic, and their team was so kind and helpful. They really went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly for us, and we’re so grateful for that.”
