Bite into the best cupcakes in Ottawa - Bakeries & More

Cupcakes have been around since the 18th century and have remained a popular alternative to large slices of decadent cakes to this day.

These frosting-clad mini cakes are so popular in Canada, that there are National Cupcake Days held every year as a fundraiser for organizations like the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.

Luckily, there are dozens of bakeries that sell all sorts of cupcakes in Ottawa, so you don’t have to wait for Cupcake Day to arrive to indulge in them. We narrowed them down to help your search (and hopefully, satisfy your sweet tooth)!

The bakery also aims to reduce plastic waste and won’t use plastic bags to pack your orders.

As the name suggests, Anabia Cupcakery Cafe is a cafe-slash-cupcake shop where coffee is best enjoyed with cupcakes. What the cafe offers is pretty straightforward, but there’s nothing simple behind the process of their cupcake creations.

Anabia was founded by David de Almeida as an ode to his Portuguese immigrant parents’ hard work. He wanted to pass on the values he learned from his parents to his daughters, Ana and Bia, by opening the shop.

While you’re here, pair your coffee with any of David’s 19 cupcake flavours, ranging from lemon raspberry to blueberry vanilla. If you want a drink-inspired cupcake, you should give the hot cocoa chocolate or the espresso dip a try!

Tips:

If you want to customize a cupcake order from Anabia Cupcakery Cafe for an event, David accepts custom orders via phone.

If you’re dining in, we highly recommend buying cupcakes in boxes of 6 or more, as the price drops to $4 a piece from the regular $4.25 if you order less than that.

The cafe’s daily cupcake offerings are subject to change, but most flavours are available for pre-orders made via phone.
